Oba Court Complex To Be Named After Justice Onwuamaegbu

Towards the expansion of justice delivery in the State, Anambra State government has officially pre-commissioned the Oba Court Complex.

The Commissioning is in honour of the first female Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu who just clocked sixty- five years and bowed out from active service.

The complex housing both Magistrate and High Court is situated along Oba-Nnewi new road, Close to Oba Civic Centre and Police Station.

The Governor who attended the event in company of his wife, Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano, said that his visit was to inspect the property which will be named in honour of Justice Onwuamaegbu.

Governor Obiano said the court location will ensure that people at the grassroot can have access to Justice, and announced that the out-going Chief Judge will become the Chairman of the State Committee reviewing all the laws in the State into a compendium.

He added that soon, his government will acquire digital transcribers for judges to aid proper and stress-free recording of Court proceedings, assuring that his government will always support the State judiciary.

The State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Barrister Uju Nworgu said that Justice Onwuamaegbu has done so much within her three months stay in office due to her dedication and support of the Governor.

Justice Onwuamaegbu who appreciated the Governor for appointing her, explained that the building started on twenty second May 2019, hoping to finish it as scheduled, and added that the building will accommodate two wings on completion.

Cutting of cake by Justice Onwuamaegbu, assisted by the Governor, among others, featured at the ceremony.

Chairman of the South East Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe and other Traditional Rulers, former Deputy Governor, Emeka Sibeudu, top government functionaries, members of the bar and bench, among others, attended the ceremony.
