The Nigerian Army’s 6 Division has arrested 43 suspected oil thieves and uncovered 27 illegal bunkering sites in the Niger Delta Region.

Relations between May 26 and June 8, 2025, troops recovered over 161,000 litres of stolen products, including crude oil, diesel, and petroleum products.
According to him, the operations, conducted in synergy with other security agencies, targeted illegal refining sites and pipelines in Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Delta states. Significant seizures included:
– Over 30,000 litres of stolen crude in Bayelsa State
– 27,600 litres of stolen crude and 4,000 litres of illegally refined diesel in Bayelsa State
– 27,000 litres of stolen petrol in Rivers State
– 3,000 litres of stolen crude in Rivers State
– 2,700 litres of illegally refined kerosene in Rivers State
– 1,900 litres of stolen diesel in Akwa Ibom State
– 840 litres of stolen petrol in Akwa Ibom State
– 3,600 litres of stolen crude in Delta State
The General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, commended troops for their efforts and urged them to sustain the crackdown against oil thieves.
