By Joy Odor

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented Certificates of Return to the Governor-elect of Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and his Deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami by INEC National Commissioner of Ondo State, Prof. Kunle Ajayi.

The Governor who after receiving the Certificate at the INEC headquarters on Wednesday with the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and some members of the party’s National Working Committee, (NWC), hailed INEC for conducting a free, fair, transparent, credible, and inclusive election.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for providing a level playing field for all parties, the people of Ondo State for exercising their franchise and renewing his mandate and other stakeholders for their commitment to the electoral process.

The Governor who visited the National Chairman, ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje and members of the party’s National Working Committee, (NWC) shortly after receiving Certificate of Return in his speech informed that their victory will not have been achieved without a political platform APC.

He lauded the leadership of the party for providing the platform for them to run as Governor and Deputy Governor in the just concluded election.

According to him, with the kind of massive vote that the people of Ondo gave, has placed a burden on them to be able to do more than what they have been able to do in the last ten months before reelection.

“We have made this promise, just as I said at that time, with the kind of massive of votes that the people gave to us, has placed burden on us to be able to do more than what we have been able to do in the last ten months.

And this will make our party proud, so that after we might have served a number of years, the constitution will allow for us to serve the people.

“APC will take over from us again. And that is what we will ensure, so that the name of our party, the title of our party is intact, and by the things we do, good governance that we give to the people, that will reflect in the land and the lives of the people.

“That shows that your party, our party, my party is well-loved in Ondo State. We’ve been saying this all along, that Ondo State is a progressive state.

“Whenever the progressives govern the state, the state is always at peace. And that is exactly what the people of the state showed in the whole war, since November 6th of the Gubernatorial election.

“So, the job you’ve given to us, like I said, is well-delivered. And the people of the state love our party, love our national leader, President Bola Tinubu.

“I was declared the winner of the election. I believe we can say that boldly, with confidence, because of what we have been able to do in Edo and Ondo State. It’s getting softer and softer.

“We went into Edo State, an election that was a bit tough, but at the end of the day, with your knowledge and mobilization strategy, and position of our party, the kind of leadership we have at the center, the president, and the organization of our party, we were able to sail through and win.

“Coming to Ondo State, it became simpler because of our structures in Ondo State. The people of Ondo State knew who they wanted. We continued to govern them for the next four years.

“We voted for integrity. We voted for organization. We voted for continuity. We voted for good leadership, good governance. And that was what happened from that day, where we attained a feat that has never been achieved by any governorship candidate ever in Ondo State. We ruled the entirety of the local government.

“We won in every local government. 18.0 pro mat. And not only that, even the opposition, the only visible opposition that faces the people, the candidate of that party, who came from the same federal constituency, out of the ten worlds in his own local government, managed to win just one” Gov Lucky ended.
