As Emma Enekwu, the Chairman of the Ondo State Primary Election Committee announced sales of Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms, Engr. Fumilayo Waheed Adekojo, Ondo State Governorship aspirant was the first to purchase the ten million naira form, beating the male aspirant.
Addressing journalists in Abuja APC headquarters shortly after obtaining the party’s Nomination and Expression of Interest forms to contest the state governorship election, Funmilayi affirmed that although there are bigwigs in the race, she is not disturbed, neither is she considering stepping down for anybody.
According to her, if elected, her focus would be education, youth employment, and utilising the state’s blue sea even make engineers and the state proud.
Funmilayi informed that she have single handedly raised 15,000 women and youths in Akoko and Ondo State generally on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.
“I want to serve the people of Ondo State by giving by best, as an engineer, I will make engineers and the state proud, my focus will be education, youth employment, and utilising the state’s blue sea.
I’m not here to represent myself, but to represent the women in the world, especially Africa, to showcase what we can do – this is the era that women have to come on board to put a lot of things right.
“Women are the solution, the majority are the youths. Anywhere you have women and the youths together, that is the solution you’re looking for.
“I am a woman of the people, l am close to those at the grassroots and I know what they need and will work towards meeting their needs.
“I’m looking forward to adding more value to my people in Ondo State. I’m going to introduce a lot of investors to make our state look like what we’ve been looking for.
“As a practising engineer for that matter, I’m going to make Ondo an industrial hub and develop a lot of resources that have been wasting away over the years.
“You are not a politician by just practicing politics, but by positively impacting on the lives of the people, that I had done, even as a private person,” she said.
Recall that the party’s Nomination from had been fixed for N10,000,000 for female aspirant and persons with disabilities while the Nomination form is free for them.
However, Expression of Interest forms goes for #40,000,000 for male aspirants.
