The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has conducted a Methodology Workshop on Election Violence Mitigation and Advocacy Tool ( EVMAT) in preparation for Ondo State Governorship Election.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ondo declared the event open on behalf of the Chairman Board of the Electoral Institute (BEI) in Akure on 21st August 2020.
He said EVMAT is a predictive and proactive tool designed and deployed by TEI to identify likely flashpoints of violence and to proactively mitigate or completely prevent the occurrence of such violence.
The Chairman urged participants to be above board while in the field.
He noted that the efforts of the Commission in delivering a violent free, free and credible election in Ondo State cannot be accomplished without the effort of the selected field Agents.
The Director General of the Electoral Institute, Dr. Sa’ad Umar Idris, who was represented by Director R & D, Dr Ibrahim Sani, in his welcome remarks charged participants to dedicate themselves and take the workshop very seriously as the Institute and the Commission as a whole repose a lot of confidence on them and the EVMAT as a proactive mechanism to identify flashpoints of Electoral Violence.
