Troops of Operation UDO KA have achieved a significant victory against separatist insurgents, flushing out members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its militant wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), from their stronghold in Orsumoghu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The Sector 5 Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Orsumoghu has been instrumental in intensifying military operations to reclaim territories once controlled by the outlawed group.

According to the FOB Commander, Colonel Adamu Mohammed, the area was a strategic location for IPOB/ESN operatives to launch attacks and escape into surrounding forests.

Since the establishment of the FOB, troops have remained unyielding in the face of spirited attempts by IPOB criminals to dislodge them. The FOB has recorded several major achievements, including:

– Liberation of hideouts once dominated by IPOB/ESN operatives
– Rescue of a kidnapped victim and recovery of multiple pump-action rifles
– Neutralization of insurgents and seizure of weapons
– Arrest of collaborators and recovery of explosive materials
– Disruption of child trafficking operations

The FOB has also fostered cordial relations with local residents, constructing a borehole to address water scarcity and improve local welfare.

Colonel Mohammed attributed the relative peace and improved security in Ihiala and its environs to the relentless efforts of the troops stationed at the FOB.

He maintained that the military remains resolute in dismantling insurgent networks and restoring law and order across the affected communities.

As Operation UDO KA continues its mission across the Southeast, the military’s commitment to protecting public safety and security remains unwavering.
