By Joy Odor Abuja
In a spectacle that blended official gravitas with family joy, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Richard Pheelamilo Pheelangwa, stepped out of the corridors of power and into a celebration of love on Saturday, 6 December 2025, as he joined relatives, colleagues, dignitaries and well-wishers to witness the wedding of his son, Mubarak, and his bride, Kate.
The solemn vows were exchanged at ECWA Goodnews Church, PW Kubwa, Abuja, where the couple’s procession drew a warm swell of admiration from a congregation that filled the sanctuary with applause, camera flashes and quiet reverence.
The ceremony unfolded with the poise of a well-orchestrated state function, yet carried the intimate touches of a family deeply steeped in faith and tradition.
From the church grounds, the celebration shifted gears into full festive mode as guests made their way to Evelyn’s Garden (Evelyn’s Hall), Gwarimpa.
There, under soft lights and lush décor, the reception transformed into a vibrant convergence of Abuja’s social, political and professional circles, an evening marked by heartfelt toasts, spirited music and an unmistakable air of pride radiating from the Pheelangwa family.
The night closed on a jubilant note, with attendees raising glasses to the couple’s new beginning and to the Permanent Secretary, whose moment of private joy briefly became the city’s most talked-about public celebration.
