President Bola Tinubu has on Monday presided over the swearing-in of newly appointed commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC),
Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), ans the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
The ceremony held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja took place before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The eight newly sworn-in permanent secretaries, drawn from different states, underwent a rigorous selection process that included written and oral examinations, as well as an ICT competency test.
Among them is Dr. Onwusoro Ihemelandu from Abia State, an optometrist and World Bank-certified procurement expert. He joined the Federal Civil Service in 1997 and previously served as Director of Procurement in ministries such as Environment, Labour and Employment, and Interior.
Also sworn in was Philip Ebiogeh Ndiomu from Bayelsa State, an agricultural expert who began his civil service career in 1992. As Director of Agriculture at the Ministry of Niger Delta Development, Ndiomu spearheaded programs that trained and empowered over 5,500 women, youths, and vulnerable groups.
Dr. Anuma Nlia (Ebonyi State), a medical doctor and healthcare administrator who previously served as Director of the Teaching Hospitals Division at the Federal Ministry of Health.
Chinasa Nnam Ogbodo (Enugu State), an accountant who rose to Director of Finance and Accounts in 2017 and served in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.
Dr. Kalba Danjuma Usman (Gombe State), a medical doctor and urologist credited with pioneering LASER surgery in Nigeria.
Dr. Salihu Aminu Usman (Kebbi State), an accounting and management expert who previously served as Director of Finance and Accounts at the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
Patience Nwakuso Oyekunle (Rivers State), a biochemist and former Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
Engr. Nadungu Gagare (Kaduna State), an agricultural engineer known for his contributions to mechanized farming and rural development.
A total of 21 commissioners were sworn in for the RMAFC, representing various states. They include:
Abia State – Nkechi Oti Linda, Akwa Ibom State – Barr. Imo Efiong Akpan, Anambra State – Hon. Ekene Enefe, Benue State – Prof. Steve Davies Ugbah, Cross River State – Ntufam Eyo-Nsa Whiley, Delta State – Aruviere Egharhevwa, Ebonyi State – Henry Nduka Awuregu and Edo State – Victor Otaigbe Eboigbe.
Ekiti State – Hon. Barr. Omowumi Olubunmi Ogunlola, Enugu State – Hon. Chief Ozo Obumneme Obodougo, Gombe State – Mohammed Kabeer Usman, Katsina State – Kabir Muhammad Mashi, Kano State – Hon. Adamu Abdu Fanda, Lagos State – Prof. Olusegun Adekunle Wright and Nasarawa State – Aliyu Almakura Abdulkadir.
Others are: Niger State – Ibrahim Bako Shettima, Ogun State – Akeem Akintayo Amosun, Ondo State – Dr. Nathaniel Adojutelegan, Plateau State – Hon. Sa’ad Ibrahim Bello, Yobe State – ESV. Madu-Aji Juluri and Zamfara State – Bello Rabiu Garba.
In addition, Mr. Kayode Oladele was sworn in as a Federal Commissioner for the FCC, while Pastor (Mrs.) Iyantan Olukemi Victoria took the oath as a Federal Commissioner for the NPC.
President Tinubu, in his address, urged the appointees to uphold integrity and serve the nation diligently.
He emphasized that their roles are crucial to ensuring effective governance, equitable resource allocation, and efficient service delivery.
The newly appointed officials are expected to immediately resume their duties in their respective capacities.
