The Executive Secretary of the Pension Transition Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Tolulope Odunaiya, has called for stronger collaboration with the media to enhance public understanding of the agency’s pension reform initiatives.
Odunaiya made the call on Tuesday in Abuja while receiving members of the Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE), led by its Chairman, Sola Akingboye, in her office.
She described the media as “a champion of clarity,” stressing its vital role in simplifying complex issues and giving a voice to the masses.
“Media partnerships will help amplify our efforts and inform citizens both within Nigeria and abroad, as the online space knows no boundaries,” she said, pledging PTAD’s readiness to collaborate with online platforms.
Odunaiya thanked ACOE for its pledge of support and acknowledged the crucial role of online media in shaping public perception and driving accountability.
“I recognise the significant contributions of online media, and I welcome the opportunity to partner with you,” she added. “We look forward to working together to ensure pensioners are well-informed and well-served.”
Earlier, ACOE Chairman, Sola Akingboye commended PTAD’s leadership for taking decisive measures against pension fraud and implementing reforms to ensure timely payments to retirees.
He cited the agency’s “I Am Alive Confirmation (IAAC)” initiative as a standout achievement, noting that it has not only safeguarded vulnerable pensioners but also saved the Federal Government substantial resources previously spent on physical verification.
“These accomplishments reflect the commendable leadership we have observed since you took office less than ten months ago.
“We are here to support efforts aimed at improving Nigeria’s pension system and will use our platforms to promote PTAD’s work”
Akingboye said.
ACOE, a coalition of over 50 professional online media organisations across the country, reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparency in the pension sector.
