The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has identified a fraudulent Facebook account impersonating Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, the Permanent Secretary.
According to a press statement signed by Alkasim Abdulkadir, the MFA Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy, the fake account is being used to spread false information, promise contracts, and request assistance from unsuspecting individuals.
The Ministry strongly dissociates itself from this impersonation and warns the public to disregard any communication from the fake account.
It affirmed that Ambassador Ahmed does not operate or own any social media account, and the public should avoid engaging with individuals or entities promoting such schemes.
The statement maintained that the Ministry is working with security agencies and Meta to investigate and shut down the fake account.
It informed that the ministry remain committed to transparency, integrity, and protecting citizens from fraudulent activities.
