The House of Representative Committee on National Security and Intelligence, the Commander of the Presidential Air fleet, Air Vice Marshal Olayinka Olusola, representatives of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Major General Galadima went into a close door session to ascertain the state of presidential Air fleet.
The Committee Chairman, Hon Satomi Ahmed in his opening address before the close door demanded for thorough explanation from the Commander presidential Air fleet as well as the NSA to ascertain the state of the Air fleet.
Rep Ahmed expressed dismay on the online media report about the current state of the presidential Air fleet in the country and wanted a confirmation from the critical stakeholders on the incident.
Shortly after the Chairman’s address, the Committee members call for a closed door session which was adopted and the journalists was ask to leave to be briefed later on the outcome of the meeting.
Recalled that Hon Satomi had last week moved a motion during plenary on the need to invite the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to appear before lawmakers and explain the state of the Presidential Air Fleet to Nigerians.
According to him, the Vice President Kashim Shettima was recently forced to cancel his trip to the United States where he was scheduled to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit because of a fault dictated in his aircraft.
He informed that President Bola Tinubu was equally forced to fly in a chartered plane from Netherlands to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the World Economic Forum held in that country owing to a fault dictated in his Air Fleet.
Meanwhile, Hon Satomi during press briefing after the close door session has affirmed that the investigation of the matter is in top gear by his committee.
Satomi confirmed the forming of Technical Sub- Committee that would liaise between the House and other stakeholders to sort out all the challenges in the presidential Air Fleet.
