…as Ubah dump YPP to APC

By Joy Odor

National Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has described Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South who defected from Young Progressive Party (YPP) to APC as the biggest politician fish he has cut since becoming APC Chairman.

Ganduje made this known at the APC Headquarters, Abuja, when Sen Ubah came to pay him homage on Thursday.

The APC National Chairman opined that with Ubah’s defection, the party would soon take over the South-East in the coming elections.

“This is the biggest fish I have gotten.

“We thank you for coming and joining APC. I describe him as a swing politician because wherever he is that party wins.

“And we expect this swing will swing throughout South-East, especially to the other three states that don’t belong to APC,” Ganduje said.

“We will start a revolution, already we have two states in the South East and with this timber and calibre, juggernaut, I think we have found the answer” he informed.

Ganduje thanked the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio who led Sen. Ubah to APC Secretariat for the uncommon job to ensure APC gain more members in the Senate.

Earlier in his address, while presenting Senator Ubah to Ganduje, the Senate President said the political bigwig in the South East is not just coming with YPP alone, but with timber and calibre of the old party that used to be in charge in Nigeria, confirming that South East has fallen into APC.

In homage speech, Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah, affirmed that he dump YPP for APC to ensure that South-East benefits from the Central Government of President Bola Tinubu who is rewarding even those who didn’t vote for him.

“I want to be sincere, and I know I’m talking before Nigerians, and the media; I’m from the Igbo nation. It has always been difficult for the Igbo people to key into the national party because of our sentiment and emotions.

“Since our president is a politician that understands how it hurts and how to console everybody that is in need.

“For that, it will be very difficult for any man with conscience not to look at the direction of the centre party” he stressed.

The Lawmaker explained that the appointment of Engr. David Umahi as the Minister of works by Mr. President, irrespective of the low turn of vote for him in the South East indicates the kind of politician that President Tinubu is.

“And for that, I, my family, my constituency, I consulted widely…I don’t think you will see anyone within my political family that will oppose my coming into APC.

“I started with the Young Progressive Party, now I’m going to the All Progressives Congress. So, it’s all progress. Like they say, the ‘Young Shall Grow’, and I have grown” Ubah ended.
