The Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-governmental Affairs on Thursday passed a Vote of Confidence to the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed for presenting good compile, neat, full detail report of 2024, 2025 budget Defence without any flow.

According to the Lawmakers, after listening to the 2025 budget defense session with the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-governmental Affairs affirmed that the report of Corps Marshal is the first neat presentation they have encountered so far and the Best among all the budget defense without any holes or infractions.

The Lawmaker resolved to do justice to the 2025 budget by approving the increase.

In an interview shortly after the presentation, Corps Marshal Mohammed emphasized the critical need for public education to ensure compliance with traffic regulations, reduce road accidents, and minimize fatalities, informing that the ultimate goal is to achieve zero injuries and deaths on Nigeria roads.

He highlighted the importance of increased funding to enhance the FRSC’s activities and deploy advanced technologies, stressing the need to intensify public enlightenment and education.

“We aim to bring everyone on board, ensuring that drivers and commuters are fully aware of their rights and responsibilities.

“We have received assurances that this year’s budget will be favorable, recognizing that road safety is a shared responsibility that requires everyone’s participation.

“It is imperative for drivers and road users to obey traffic regulations. We are losing far too many lives to road crashes, and it shouldn’t be the case. If we all adhere to traffic rules, many of these accidents can be avoided. We should also learn from countries that record fewer crashes and fatalities.

“They need to understand what actions are acceptable and what rules they must abide by. Enforcement through fines alone isn’t the solution; we must first sensitize the public. This is why we have requested additional funding from the Senate and House committees to strengthen our public education efforts and continue saving lives’ he noted.
