The Nigerian Senate has on Wednesday screened nominees for the South South Development Commission (SSDC), including Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche as Chairman and Usoro Offiong Akpabio as Managing Director.
The Senate screened 12 other nominees for various positions in the SSDC, including Executive Directors and other key roles.
The Chairman of the Senate committee on SSDC, Senator Benson Kombowei in his address during the screening changed the
nominees to focus on addressing economic sabotage, environmental degradation, and infrastructure decay in the Niger Delta region.
Recall that Usoro Offiong Akpabio is a seasoned energy and public sector professional with over 17 years of experience in oil and gas trading, government relations, and public-private sector collaborations.
Sen Kombowei urged the nominees to execute projects that would address the developmental challenges facing the Niger Delta region.
According to him, they are also expected to tackle environmental degradation, economic sabotage, and infrastructure decay in the region.
