In a sweeping reorganisation designed to sharpen command efficiency and align expertise with emerging road safety challenges, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has redeployed a wide array of its senior officers across strategic commands and departments nationwide.
The reshuffle, approved by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, takes immediate effect and signals a renewed push to strengthen operational delivery, tighten leadership oversight and reposition critical skills where they are most needed.
At the National Headquarters, Deputy Corps Marshal Pauline Olaye has been moved from the Special Duties and External Relations Department to head the Department of Administration and Human Resources, a posting that places her at the centre of personnel management and institutional coordination.
In a corresponding adjustment, Assistant Corps Marshal Godwin Omiko, PhD, formerly Corps Project Implementation Officer, now assumes responsibility for Special Duties and External Relations.
The changes extend to the Corps’ powerful zonal commands.
Assistant Corps Marshal A. Sanusi, fdc, previously in charge of Manpower Development and Training, has been redeployed as Zonal Commanding Officer of RS1 Headquarters in Kaduna, while ACM M. O. Olonisaye, until now the Corps Safety Engineering Officer, takes charge of RS2 Headquarters in Lagos one of the busiest and most complex operational zones in the country.
In a related move, ACM A. Umar, who previously headed RS1 Headquarters, has been nominated for a course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), Kuru, a posting often reserved for senior officers being prepared for higher strategic responsibilities.
The redeployment also features a swap of leadership between two zones, with ACM J. W. Toby and ACM E. Odiete exchanged commands between RS5 Headquarters in Benin and RS11 Headquarters in Osogbo.
Meanwhile, ACM Y. A. Haruna has been appointed Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Federal Operations, a key portfolio overseeing nationwide enforcement activities.
To reinforce zonal coordination in the North Central, ACM A. K. Odeleye-Oladayo has been posted to RS8 Headquarters in Ilorin as Zonal Commanding Officer, while ACM C. M. Onukwubiri moves in the opposite direction from Ilorin to Abuja to resume duty as Corps Safety Engineering Officer at the National Headquarters.
At the Corps Commander level, CC F. A. Ogidan has been appointed Command Administration and Strategy Officer, a role central to policy execution and institutional planning.
In the states, AS Ibrahim and CC A. S. Ogungbemi have been deployed as Sector Commanders in Adamawa and Plateau States respectively, bolstering frontline leadership in two high-traffic corridors.
Further changes see CC S. E. Dawulung appointed Acting Corps Project Implementation Officer, while CC D. A. Bello now heads the Special Marshals Department at the National Headquarters in Abuja.
The Corps Marshal has directed all affected officers to ensure seamless handover and to assume their new responsibilities without delay.
According to FRSC management, the redeployment reflects a deliberate strategy to continuously align leadership placement with the Corps’ evolving operational and administrative priorities.
As traffic volumes rise and road safety challenges grow more complex, the latest shake-up underscores the FRSC’s intent to stay ahead by rebuilding its command structure from the top down.
