The Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN) is set to host its maiden International Diplomatic and Security Conference in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The conference, scheduled to take place at the Rotunda Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, will focus on Nigeria’s foreign policy direction amidst rising global uncertainties.
The Conference Theme is tagged: “Nigeria’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Strategy Amidst Global Security Challenges, Strategic Misperceptions, and the Age of Disinformation: The Role of Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Media in Shaping National and Global Stability.”
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will deliver the keynote address.
A robust panel session will feature distinguished speakers, including the Ambassador of the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), and Prof. Sheriff Ghali of the University of Abuja.
The conference will discuss the challenges posed by Disinformation and Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) and potential strategies for mitigating its effects.
The conference aimed to deepen public understanding of the 4Ds Strategy – Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora – as Nigeria repositions itself in a complex world order.
The conference will bring together individuals from various backgrounds and expertise to foster a deeper understanding of the complex issues surrounding Nigeria’s foreign policy and global engagements.
