The waiting game has begun in Karu.

Inside the Independent National Electoral Commission office, officials moved with quiet urgency files arranged, result sheets aligned and communication lines tested as the centre transformed into the nerve-point of democracy for the Federal Capital Territory Area Council election.

From early afternoon, electoral officers, party agents and accredited observers steadily filled the premises.

Security personnel took strategic positions around the building while journalists assembled bracing for what could be decisive announcements.

Outside the premises, supporters gathered in clusters, trading predictions and refreshing phones, hoping for early confirmation of victory.

Unlike the tension at polling units earlier in the day, the mood here was restrained but intense, the kind that comes before a verdict.

Officials confirmed the office was fully prepared for announcements once verification procedures were completed.

For voters across the FCT, the ballots have been cast.

Now, all eyes turn to Karu, where figures will soon become winners, and silence will give way to celebration or protest.
