In a call to action, the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas has charged newly promoted Nigerian Air Force officers to renew their commitment to building a better Nigeria.
This is as he urged newly promoted senior officers of the Nigerian Air Force to embrace their enhanced roles with unwavering dedication to nation-building.
The call was made during an elaborate decoration ceremony held on 24 December 2024, Abuja and made available to newsmen in a press statement by Group Captain

Represented at the event by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu CON, the Speaker emphasized that the officers’ elevation comes with heightened responsibilities.
“Rising to air rank is both a significant milestone and a source of motivation. However, it comes with substantial responsibilities.
As senior officers, the Service has equipped you with comprehensive training to lead effectively from a broader and more strategic perspective,” he noted.
Hon. Abbas called on the officers to renew their commitment to combating terrorism, banditry, and other forms of insecurity, thereby contributing to a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.
The ceremony marked the decoration of 19 Air Commodores promoted to Air Vice Marshal (AVM) and 31 Group Captains elevated to Air Commodore (Air Cdre).
Distinguished attendees included the Chief of Defence Staff, General CG Musa; the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, who was the chief host; and Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu, among other dignitaries.
In his address, the CAS, highlighted the NAF’s achievements over the past year, including the induction of 13 new aircraft and the reactivation of other critical platforms such as the Super Puma and ATR-42.
These advancements, he noted, have bolstered counter-terrorism efforts and enhanced the protection of national assets.
He commended the newly promoted officers for their dedication and urged them to align with the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda by approaching their new roles with excellence and determination.
The Chief of Administration (COA), AVM Idi Sani, reminded the officers that their promotions carry heightened expectations.
“It is incumbent on you to not betray the confidence reposed in you. Remain diligent, dedicated, and selfless in service to the NAF and the Nation,” he charged.
The ceremony underscored the NAF’s ongoing commitment to fostering leadership excellence and ensuring the security and prosperity of Nigeria.
