Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of Abia State and current Senator representing Abia North, has publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking to journalists at the National Assembly on Tuesday, Senator Kalu revealed that his attire, which features “Abia North 2027” and President Tinubu’s signature cap, symbolizes his support for the President’s re-election bid.

“you see what I’m wearing? If you look at the dress I’m wearing, you will know what it is. This is the endorsement for the President. My dress is perfectly tailored to that and the Southeast caucus is fully in support.

“We have endorsed him about three or four weeks ago, even before any other person in any group. And I was there, chaired by the Governor of Hope, co-chaired by the Governor of Ebonyi and Deputy Speaker. We were the first that warranted the national endorsement.

“A party like APC have nobody to fear about. We are a ruling party. We are passionate about Nigeria. We love Nigeria. And that is why most of us are building industries all over Nigeria, so Nigerian people can have jobs, even not the government.

“So, there’s nothing like fear. The opposition are there. If the opposition doesn’t criticize us for the endorsements, who would they criticize? It’s their job to criticize, but it’s our job to do our job. And we are doing our job perfectly very well. And I hope that Nigerian people in the next few years will appreciate what Mr. The President is doing.”

The Senator emphasized that the Southeast Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has already endorsed President Tinubu as their sole candidate for the 2027 elections, a decision made about three to four weeks prior.

He expressed confidence in the APC’s ability to face any political contest, stating that the party is not afraid of the opposition.

Senator Kalu also defended President Tinubu’s economic policies, noting that while they may not have yielded immediate results, they are designed to have long-term benefits.

He predicted that the policies would start to have a positive impact on the micro-economic level within the next two to three years.

When asked about the current economic challenges, Senator Kalu attributed them to the fact that Nigerians are not used to working hard and that the President’s policies are aimed at changing this mindset.

He concluded by emphasizing the importance of national unity and stability, stating that President Tinubu’s re-election would be in the best interest of the country.
