The Director of Amy Public Relations (DAPR) Brig-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu has opined that it is indisputable and well established fact that the sword or gun cannot alone, provide a panacea to the complex and multifaceted security challenges that characterize todays world.

He stated this on Wednesday while assuming duty as the new Spokesperson of the Nigerian Army in Abuja.

Brig-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu Obverved that the complex nature of the security challenges requires multi-disciplinary approach and a conglomerate of stakeholders of which the media is a very vital one.

He added that in decisively overcoming these challenges, the NA and the media must be partners in progress to surmount this security threats to berth the peace and tranquility we all earnestly desire as a people and nation.

Brig-Gen. Nwachukwu said he have no doubt of the responsibilities of his office as the Director Army Public Relations, which is summarily to project the activities of the NA with the objective of galvanizing public goodwill and support for the NA, as its strives assiduously to surmount contemporary security challenges bedeviling our nation.

He called for collaboration between the Nigerian Army and the media to tackle security challenges confronting the nation.

” I must recognize the immense contributions of my boss, the immediate past Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General MM Yerima. Sir, on behalf of officers, soldiers and civilian Staff of the Directorate of Army Public Relations, I will like to appreciate you for the laudable feats recorded during your tenure.

“May also assure you that I intend to consolidate on your successes. Please be rest assured that we will often times consult with you to seek your professional guidance as a seasoned Public Relations practitioner.

“On this note, I sincerely wish you the best in all your future endeavours.
5. I must appreciate members of the fourth estate of the realm for your individual support and cooperation during my tenure as the Acting DDI. I implore you all to remain steadfast as you carry out your essential role of educating and informing the public, thereby bringing the society up to speed on the happenings in the defence and security sector.

“I urge you to use your reportage and medium to positively shape public perception and opinion towards endearing national defence and security institutions to the public. This, I believe will enable the harnessing of requisite elements of national power to confront our common adversaries.

” Let me use this medium to once again, express my sincere gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for my appointment, while assuring him of my unalloyed commitment to his vision for A professional Nigerian Army, Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions within a Joint environment in Defence of Nigeria. I equally pledge to promote the core values of the NA amongst officers and soldiers of the Directorate of Army Public Relations.
