The Democratic Front (TDF) has responded to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidy.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Monday by the Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo of TDF, informed that it was embarrassing by Atiku’s insistence that the removal was “hasty and thoughtless.”
The group challenged Atiku to present a better alternative and noted that food prices are actually decreasing in local markets.
TDF cited examples of reduced prices for rice and maize in Northern markets and Irish potatoes in Jos.
They attributed this to the Tinubu administration’s policies and investments in agriculture.
The group also disputed Atiku’s claims about the government’s payment of the new wage award to federal workers, saying records show payments have commenced.
TDF urged Atiku to provide his own strategy for fuel subsidy removal or explain how he would sustain the subsidy regime without external borrowings.
They advised Nigerians not to take Atiku’s criticism seriously until he presents viable alternatives.
