The Great Ekenhuan Abuja Alumni Association has joined the chorus of tributes pouring in for the late former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Ehigiator Arase, describing him as a selfless patriot, fearless defender of the downtrodden, and a man whose humility illuminated every office he held.

Arase, who died in Abuja on August 31, 2025, after a brief illness, was eulogized by the Association during a condolence visit to his widow, Mrs. Agharese Arase.

Speaking on behalf of the body, Chairperson Mrs. Stella Nwabuche declared: “IGP Arase was a rare breed.

Despite the lofty positions he occupied, he remained approachable, compassionate, and grounded.

With his death, Nigeria has lost not only a fine officer but an exemplary human being.”

The Group praised Arase’s towering contributions to Nigeria’s security and governance, ranging from his leadership in the Nigeria Police Force to his tenure as Chairman of the Police Service Commission, underscoring that he left behind a legacy of diligence, integrity, and patriotism.

“He gave our Association wise counsel as patron and remained a steadfast supporter of our community of creatives. His passing is a national loss,” Nwabuche added.

The delegation on the condolence visit included High Chief Kingsley Okafor, Dele Ahamisi Esq., Mr. Nnamdi Okosieme, and Mrs. Theodora Obayogie.

Born in Edo State, Arase rose through the police ranks with distinction, serving as Commissioner in Akwa Ibom, Principal Secretary to former IGP Tafa Balogun, and Assistant Inspector General in the intelligence unit, before becoming Inspector General of Police.

He retired on June 21, 2016.

With his death, Nigerians remember not just a law enforcer, but a patriot whose life was devoted to service, justice, and humanity.
