In a significant military operation, troops from 17 Brigade, Operation Fasan Yama, based at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kurfi in Katsina State, successfully repelled a terrorist attack along the Kurfi-Batsari road on June 18, 2025.
Major General MG Kangye, the Director Defence Media Operations on Thursday in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja Informed that the encounter, which occurred at around 5 am, resulted in a prolonged duel between the troops and the terrorists.
He mentioned that the Key Highlights are
– *Terrorist Casualties:* Eight terrorists were killed in action.
-*Recovered Arms and Ammunition:* The troops recovered 5 AK-47 rifles, 6 AK-47 magazines, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
– *Troop Casualty:* One Nigerian soldier was wounded in action and received treatment at the 17 Brigade Medical Centre.
Major General Kangye, affirmed that the situation remained calm, and the troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remain high.
The DDMO maintained that the Defence Headquarters has commended the bravery and professionalism of the troops involved in the operation, reassuring Nigerians of their continued efforts to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
He pointed out that the successful operation demonstrates the military’s commitment to combating terrorism and protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.
