The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of candidates for the 2025 Anambra State Governorship election.
This is even as the campaign period commences on June 11, 2025, and end on November 6, 2025.
According to a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by the Chairman, the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun on Wednesday, a total of 16 political parties are participating in the election, with two parties nominating female candidates and six parties fielding female running mates.
He informed that the candidates’ ages range from 36 to 71 years, lamenting that none of the parties nominated a person with disability as a candidate.
The statement also mentioned that the full list of candidates, including their party, age, gender, and academic qualifications, is available on INEC’s website and social media platforms.
According to the Electoral Act 2022, no further withdrawal or replacement of candidates will be allowed except in the event of death before Election Day.
INEC has reminded political parties, candidates, and their supporters to adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act, including avoiding abusive language, physical attacks, and destruction of campaign materials.
It also promised that all parties and candidates must be given unimpeded access to public facilities for campaign activities.
The Anambra State Governorship election is scheduled to be held on November 8, 2025.
