Nigeria is set for a groundbreaking shift in health infrastructure as the Federal Government hosts a two-day National Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Power in the Health Sector.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will attend as Special Guest of Honour, where he is expected to witness the signing of a historic Power and Health Compact, reaffirming his administration’s pledge to deliver reliable electricity to the nation’s hospitals under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The dialogue, Themed “Powering Health Through Public-Private Synergy: Energising Nigeria’s Health Sector for the Future,” will unite policymakers, energy experts, healthcare leaders, development partners, and private sector innovators to chart a new course for reliable, sustainable, and climate-smart energy in healthcare delivery.
Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, underscored the urgency:-
“Power is healthy. Without reliable electricity, vaccines spoil, surgeries stall, and lives are lost.
This Dialogue is about securing Nigeria’s health facilities with sustainable energy to save lives today and safeguard our future.”
Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, added: “A hospital without power is a hospital without hope.
This dialogue is not just about policy; it is about delivery. We are setting the stage for real solutions that benefit patients and frontline health workers.”
The Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, described the initiative as a landmark collaboration that signals investor confidence:
“This step sends a clear signal that Nigeria’s health sector is open, viable, and ready for transformation through sustainable, climate-smart energy systems.”
The Objectives of the Dialogue are
Assess Nigeria’s power policy environment and its impact on health facilities.
Showcase renewable and backup energy innovations.
Strengthen public-private partnerships for sustainable infrastructure.
Explore innovative financing for affordable electricity solutions.
Develop a joint accountability framework for power interventions across health institutions.
Alongside the high-level talks, a Technology and Innovation Exhibition will spotlight startups, private companies, and energy solution providers offering scalable models to boost power reliability in hospitals.
The Dialogue marks a turning point in Nigeria’s efforts to build resilient, climate-smart health infrastructure, putting energy access at the center of saving lives and strengthening public trust in healthcare delivery.
