In a bid to reinforce media relations and deepen strategic collaboration, Transcorp Hilton Abuja has paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council.
The hotel’s delegation, led by Commercial Director Betty Aguiyi-Ironsi and E-Commerce Manager Ijeoma Osuji, the first women to occupy those roles at the prestigious hospitality brand met with NUJ-FCT executives at the council secretariat.
Speaking during the visit, Aguiyi-Ironsi commended the media for its critical role in national development, describing journalists as “frontline workers” whose efforts must be acknowledged and supported.
“We are simply here to appreciate the media and reaffirm our commitment to a strategic relationship with the NUJ-FCT,” she said. “Your work in giving us visibility cannot be taken for granted we see the media as partners in progress.”
Her colleague, Ijeoma Osuji, echoed similar sentiments, noting that the hotel’s strong brand reputation owes much to sustained media support. “Our relevance is largely due to the trust and visibility provided by the media. We value this partnership immensely,” she added.
Welcoming the delegation, NUJ-FCT Chairman Comrade Grace Ike praised the Transcorp Hilton team for sustaining its support for journalists and celebrating women in leadership.
She described the visit as timely and significant, highlighting the hotel’s role in promoting journalistic excellence.
“I sincerely appreciate Transcorp Hilton for graciously hosting the 2025 NUJ FCT Press Week Public Lecture,” Ike said. “We look forward to continued collaboration, including the revival of the annual Hilton cocktail party, which brings together reporters and editors after a long year of hard work.”
The meeting was attended by key members of the NUJ-FCT Executive Council, including Vice Chairman Comrade Yahaya Ndambabo, Secretary Comrade Jide Oyekunle, Assistant Secretary Sharon Emephia, Treasurer Comrade Sandra Udeike, Financial Secretary Comrade Henry Daniel Abimiku, and Internal Auditor Comrade Rosemary Ukoko-Tega.
