Troops of JTF continue to hit terrorists…as collaborators, informants, ammunition racketeers killed – DHQ reports

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has affirmed that troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) across the Theater operations have continued to hit on the terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, collaborators, informants and ammunition racketeers, following credible reports.

The Director, Defence Media Operations (DDMO), Major General Edward Buba made this known in his speech at a bi-weekly Media briefing at Defence Headquarters Abuja on the ongoing military Operations across in the month of October.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADIN KAI (NORTH EAST)

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI recorded the following activities during the period under review; surrendering of BH/ISWAP/JAS terrorists combatants and families, arrested of terrorists/collaborators, as well as the conduct different offensive operations in Konduga, Bama, Gwoza, Guzamala, Dikwa, Kukawa, Mafa, Kaga, MMC and Ngala LGAs of Borno State.

Additionally troops conducted similar operations in Geidam and Damaturu LGAs of Yobe State as well as Madagali LGA of Adamawa State respectively.

Details as follows:

a. Surrender of BH/ISWAP Terrorists Family Members. Between 29 October and 5 November 2024, a total of 114 terrs comprising 17 adult males 37 adult females and 67 children surrendered to troops within the theatre of operations.
b. Arrest Operations.

(1) Between 28 and 30 October 2024, following credible reports, troops while on fighting patrol intercepted and arrested 15 BH/ISWAP/JAS terrorists collaborators including informants and ammunition racketeers in Kaga, Damboa, Ngala and MMC LGAs of Borno State. During the operations, troops recovered 5 AK47 rifles, 91 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 130 rounds 12.7 x 108mm, 6 magazines and the sum of N310,010.00 only amongst others.

(2) Between 28 October and 3 November 2024, following credible reports, troops in separate operations intercepted and arrested 25 BH/ISWAP/JAS collaborators Including Informans in Kukawa, Damboa and Gubio LGAs of Borno State as well as Damaturu and Geidam LGAs of Yobe State respectively.

c. Ambush Operations. On 28 and 29 October 2024, troops with hybrid forces while on offensive operations ambushed BH/ISWAP terrorists and made contact in Gwoza and Mafa LGA of Borno State.

Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 25 terrorists and recovered 11 AK47 rifles, one FN rifle, 4 fabricated rifles, 3 dane guns, 8 magazines, 333 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 121 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, one baofeng radio, 5 motorcycles and 6 bicycles amongst others.

d. Offensive Operations. Between 29 October and 4 November 2024, troops in separate offensive operations made contact with BH/ISWAP terrorists in Konduga, Bama, Gwoza, Guzamala, Dikwa and Ngala LGAs of Borno Stateas well as Madagali and Damaturu LGAs of Adamawa and Yobe States.

Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 28 and arrested 7 terrorists. Troops also recovered 11 AK47 rifles, 5 fabricated rifles, 6 dane guns, 421 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 230 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 67 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm NATO ammo, 46 rounds of 7.62mm PKM ammo, one unexploded RPG bomb, one dummy AK47 rifle, 13 magazines, 6 motorcycles and 5 mobile phones amongst others.

SUMMARY

Overall, troops of Operation HADIN KAI neutralized 85 terrorists, arrested 78 suspects and rescued 20 kidnappers hostages. Troops also recovered 47 AK47 rifles, one FN rifle, 19 fabricated rifles, 9 dane guns, one unexploded RPG bomb, one dummy AK47 rifle, 845 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 130 rounds of 7.62 x 108mm ammo, 351 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammo, 67 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo, 46 rounds of 7.62mm PKM ammo, 27 magazines, one baofeng radio, 5 motorcycles, 6 bicycles and the sum of N310,010.00 only amongst other items.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION SAFE HAVEN (NORTH CENTRAL)

Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN recorded the following during the period under review; responded and arrest of violent extremists/kidnappers and conducted offensive operations in Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Mangu and Bokkos, Bassa, Kanam, Wase, Jos South and East LGAs of Plateau State as well as Sanga and Kaura LGAs of Kaduna State.

Details are as follows:

a. Arrest Operations.
(1) Between 28 October and 2 November 2024., troops acting on credible reports intercepted and arrested 5 extremists/gunrunners as well as a wife of notorious terrorist identified as Mohammed Sani in Riyom and Bassa LGA of Plateau State. During the operations, troops recovered 4 AK47 rifle, 2 locally fabricated rifles, one locally made pistol, one single barrel gun, 253 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 11 live cartridges and military accoutrements amongst others.

(2) Between 30 October and 5 November 2024, following credible reports, troops in separate offensive operations intercepted and arrested 25 violent extremists/kidnappers in Jos North, South, Bassa, Bokkos, Barkin-Ladi and Kanam LGAs of Plateau State as well as Sanga and Kaura LGAs of Kaduna State respectively. Troops also recovered one locally made gun, one fabricated revolver rifle, 56 rounds of 7.62mm special and the sum of ₦130,000.00 only amongst others.

b. Offensive Operations. On 2 and 3 November 2024, troops in separate offensive operations raided violent extremists hideouts and made contact in Barkin Ladi and Wase LGAs of Plateau State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 5 extremists including a notorious kingpin identified as Kachallah Saleh (aka Mai Rasha) as well as rescued 2 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 3 fabricated rifles, 2 locally made pistols, 46 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 14 live cartridges and 4 mobile phones amongst others.

c. Counter/Anti Kidnapping Operations. Between 29 October and 4 November 2024, troops in separate counter/anti kidnapping operations responded to information on activities of extremists/armed robbers in Riyom and Barkin Ladi LGAs of Plateau State as well as Sanga LGA of Kaduna State. During the operations, troops arrested 4 extremists and rescued 5 kidnapped hostages.

SUMMARY

7. Overall, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN neutralized 12 violent extremists, arrested 43 persons and rescued 33 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 8 AK47 rifles, 6 fabricated rifles, 3 locally made pistols, one single barrel gun, one locally made revolver rifle, 56 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 299 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammo, 25 live cartridges, 4 mobile phones and sum of N130,000.00 only amongst other items.

OPERATION WHIRL STROKE (NORTH CENTRAL)

Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE recorded the following during the week under review; the troops conducted offensive operations such as counter/anti kidnapping operations in Ukum and Logo LGAs of Benue State as well as Takum LGA of Taraba State.

9. Details are as follows:

a. Counter/Anti Kidnapping Operations.

(1) On 30 October 2024, troops while conducting counter/anti kidnapping operations responded to a kidnap incident in Takum LGA of Taraba State. During the operations, troops rescued 2 kidnapped hostages.

(2) On 1 and 4 November 2024, troops in separate counter/anti kidnapping operations responded to distress calls on kidnap incidents in Logo and Ukum LGAs of Benue State as well as Ibbi LGA of Taraba State. During the operations, troops arrested 5 extremists and rescued 2 kidnapped hostages.

SUMMARY

Overall, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE neutralized 3 terrorists, arrested 8 violent extremists and rescued 13 kidnapped hostages.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADARIN DAJI (NORTH WEST)

The troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI recorded the following during the period under review; troops arrested violent extremists/terrorists and conducted offensive operations such as counter/anti kidnapping operations in Maradun, Maru and Tsafe LGAs of Zamfara State as well as Rafi and Shanga LGAs of Kogi and Kebbi States.

Troops also conducted similar offensive operations in Danmusa and Kankara LGAs of Katsina State as well as Giwa, Kabua, Kachia and Sanga LGAs of Kaduna States. Additionally, troops conducted operations in Wurno and Rabah LGAs of Sokoto State.

Details are as follows;

a. Arrest Operations.
(1) On 28 October 2024, following a tip-off, troops while on patrol intercepted and arrested one minor suspected to have strong ties with terrorist leader Bello Turji in Maradun LGA of Zamfara State.
(2) On 28 October and 2 November 2024, troops in separate offensive operations apprehended 21 terrorists and collaborators as well as rescued 7 kidnapped hostages in Maradun and Shanga LGAs of Zamfara and Kebbi States as well as Daura LGA of Katsina State.

b. Ambush Operations. On 28 October 2024, following credible reports, troops while on offensive operation ambushed terrorists and made contact in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 12 terrorists and recovered 8 AK 47 Rifle, 4 pump action gun, 3 magazines, 110 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo and 72 cartridges.

c. Counter/Ani kidnapping Operations.
(1) On 28 October 2024, troops in separate counter/anti kidnapping operations and made contact with terrorists/kidnappers in Jibia and Danmusa LGAs of Katsina State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 4 terrorists and rescued 9 kidnapped hostages as well as recovered 2 AK47 rifles and 59 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo.

(2) Between 1 and 5 November 2024, troops in separate counter/anti kidnapping operations responded to information on activities of terrorists/kidnappers in Kankara and Maru LGAs Katsina and Zamfara States respectively as well as Rabah and Wurno LGAs of Sokoto State. During the operations, troops rescued 36 kidnapped hostages.

d. Offensive Operations. On 1 and 5 November 2024, troops in separate offensive operations made contact with terrorists in Tsafe and Kubau LGAs of Zamfara and Kaduna States respectively. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 13 terrorists and recovered 8 AK47 rifles, 3 fabricated rifles, 289 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammo links, 224 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 60 rounds of 9mm ammo and 2 magazines.

e. Surrender of Terrorists and Family Members. On 1 November 2024, one terrorist fighter with of his 5 family members comprising of one adult male, one adult female and 4 children surrendered to troops in Rafi LGA of Niger State. During the operations, troops recovered one AK47 rifle, 76 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo and 2 mobile phones.

Air Interdiction. On 27 October 2024, following credible reports on the hibernating of terrorists within Sirdi forests which have served a strong hold and easy passage for terrorists activities in Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna State. The air component of Operation HADARIN DAJI conducted air interdiction and attacked the target with rockets and bombs. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized and their structures destroyed.

SUMMARY

Overall, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI neutralized 59 terrorists, arrested 29 persons and rescued 95 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 39 AK47 rifles, 4 pump action guns, 13 fabricated rifles, 2 dane guns, 460 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 289 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 60 rounds of 9mm ammo, 72 live cartridges, 3 magazines, 3 motorcycles and 2 mobile phones amongst others.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION WHIRL PUNCH (NORTH WEST)

The troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH recorded the following during the week under review; arrested suspected violent extremists/terrorists as well as conducted offensive operations in AMAC and Bwari Area Council of FCT Abuja as well as Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State. Additionally, troops conducted similar operations in Lokoja and Dekina LGAs of Kogi State.

Details are as follows;

a. Offensive Operations. Between 30 October and 2 November 2024, following credible tip-off, troops in separate offensive operations intercepted and arrested a total of 400 extremists including foreigners in AMAC and Bwari Area Council of FCT Abuja.

b. Arrests Operations. On 31 October and 1 November 2024, following credible reports, troops in separate operations intercepted and apprehended 12 extremist including cultists in Lokoja and Dekina LGAs of Kogi State as well as Kagarko LGA Kaduna State respectively.

SUMMARY

Overall, troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH neutralized 4 terrorists and arrested 412 violent extremists. Troops recovered 2 AK47 rifles, 2 fabricated rifles, 49 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 101 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 2 vehicles, 3 motorcycles and 6 mobile phones mongst others items.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION DELTA SAFE (SOUTH SOUTH)

Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE maintained momentum against the activities of crude oil theft. Troops destroyed several illegal refining sites and recovered stolen products.

Troops also arrested violent extremists/kidnappers and conducted offensive operations such as counter/anti kidnapping operations Akoko-Edo and Uhunmwonde LGAs of Edo State as well as Isoko North LGA of Delta State respectively.

a. Troops Destroy Illegal Refining Sites. Troops recovered 914,445 litres of stolen crude oil, 537,325 litres of illegally refined AGO and 1,285 litres of PMS. Additionally, troops discovered and destroyed 20 crude oil cooking ovens, 2 dugout pits, 42 boats, 7 reservoirs, 5 drums, 50 storage tanks and 83 illegal refining sites. Other items recovered include 3 pumping machines, 3 outboard engines, one generator set, one speedboat, 8 motorcycles, 3 mobile phones and 3 vehicles among others.

b. Counter/Anti Kidnapping Operations. On 3 November 2024, troops while conducting counter/anti kidnapping operations responded to a kidnap incident in Akoko-Edo LGA of Edo State.

During the operations, troops rescued 5 kidnapped hostages.
(g) Arrests Operations. On 3 November 2024, troops in separate patrol responded to activities of violent extremists/kidnapper and armed robbers in Isoko North and Uhunmwonde LGAs of Delta and Edo States respectively. During the operations, troops arrested 6 extremists and recovered 2 locally made pistols loaded with 4 cartridges.

SUMMARY

Overall, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE recovered 914,445 litres of stolen crude oil, 537,325 litres of illegally refined AGO and 1,285 litres of PMS.

Additionally, troops discovered and destroyed 20 crude oil cooking ovens, 2 dugout pits, 42 boats, 7 reservoirs, 5 drums, 50 storage tanks and 83 illegal refining sites. Other items recovered include 3 pumping machines, 3 outboard engines, one generator set, one speedboat, 8 motorcycles, 3 mobile phones and 3 vehicles among others.

Troops rescued 5 kidnapped hostages and apprehended 40 suspected oil thefts and other violent extremists. Troops also recovered 23 assorted arms and 75 assorted ammunitions.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION UDO KA (SOUTH EAST)

Troops of Operation UDO KA recorded the following during the week under review; troops conducted offensive operations and arrested IPOB/ESN terrorists and collaborators in Umunneochi and Isuikwuato LGAs of Abia State as well as Isi-Uzo LGA of Enugu State. Additionally, troops conducted similar operations in Orsu, Nkwerre and Okigwe LGAs of Imo State.

Details as follows:

a. Raid Operations. On 28 October 2024, troops with other security services in a combined operations raided a IPOB/ESN terrorists hideout in Umunneochi LGA of Abia State. During the operations, troops arrested 3 extremists and 3 dane guns, one pump action gun, 34 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 15 cartridges, 2 motorcycles, 8 mobile phones and ₦143,000.00 only amongst others.

b. Arrest Operations.
(1) On 28 and 29 October 2024, following credible reports, troops in separate operations intercepted and arrested 6 IPOB/ESN terrorists including armed robbers in Isi-Uzo and Orsu LGAs of Enugu and Imo States respectively. During the operations, troops recovered one vehicle, one mobile phone and the sum of ₦293,000.00 only amongst others. (2) Between 29 October and 2 November 2024, troops in separate offensive operations arrested 11 violent extremists/IPOB/ESN terrorists and collaborators in Isuikwuato LGA of Abia as well as Orsu, Nkwerre and Okigwe LGAs of Imo State respectively. During the operations, troops recovered 2 locally made pistols, one revolver pistol, 14 live cartridges, 41 rounds of 9mm ammo, one motorcycle and the sum of ₦293,000.00 only amongst others.

SUMMARY

Overall, troops of Operation UDO KA neutralized 6 terrorists, arrested 31 violent extremists and rescued 15 kidnapped hostages. Troops recovered 3 pump action guns, 5 dane guns, 2 locally made pistols, one revolver pistol, 34 round of 7.62mm NATO, 41 rounds of 9mm ammo, 34 live cartridges, one vehicle, 3 motorcycles, 9 mobile phones and the sum of N4729,000.00 only amongst other items.

Meanwhile, all recovered items, arrested suspects and rescued hostages were handed over to the relevant authority for further action.
