Under Coker-Odusote’s Leadership, NIMC Earns ACOE Backing for Inclusive Digital Identity – Akingboye vows

The Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE), Chairman Mr. Shola Akingboye has expressed strong support for the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), praising the agency’s efforts in advancing Nigeria’s digital identity infrastructure.

Speaking at the opening of a two-day roundtable discussion in Abuja, the Chairman lauded NIMC’s work at the national identity database switchboard and commended the Director-General/CEO, Engr. Bisoye Coker-Odusote, for her leadership in organizing the event.

Themed “Building Trust in Digital Identity: Strengthening Media Partnerships for a Secure and Inclusive Ecosystem,” Shola Akingboye informed that the roundtable seeks to foster collaboration between digital media professionals and NIMC in promoting secure and inclusive identity management.

“The right of Nigerians to know is crucial for effective governance,” Akingboye stated, emphasizing the importance of media-government collaboration in public education and transparency”.

He highlighted the roundtable as a follow-up to a similar engagement held in November 2023, underlining the NIMC DG’s ongoing commitment to public awareness and inclusion.

Reaffirming ACOE’s mandate as a watchdog and evaluator of public sector initiatives, Akingboye pledged the association’s full media backing in promoting NIMC’s programs.

He assured the Commission of the online editors’ dedication to objectivity, balance, and accuracy in reporting.

ACOE Chairman also commended members who responded to the call for national service by participating in the roundtable, expressing gratitude for their commitment to the digital identity discourse.

The two-day event is expected to generate actionable strategies for deepening trust in Nigeria’s digital identity system while strengthening media participation in shaping a secure data ecosystem.
