Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has called on his supporters and politicians to practice politics with decorum to guarantee a peaceful political environment come 2019 General election as he described Christmas as a period of forgiveness, peace and extension of love.
According to the Governor he anchored his faith in God to deliver even much more during his second tenure in office, come 2019.
Governor Umahi made the call Christmas Day celebration during the State Annual Thanksgiving Service which was covered live by the Nigerian Television Authority and the state television.
He also called on the elite in society to always extend hands of help to the less privileged among them as the conscience of leadership to work together with Government to deliver desired dividends to the people, adding that every man on earth has something to offer and a destiny to help.
The Governor charged the state to continue to exhibit the culture of gratitude, love and peace, pointing out that betrayal and ingratitude are signs of failure.
Meanwhile, Reportcircle Correspondent in Abakaliki reports that “indigent homes, groups, institutions and hospitals across the State have benefited from proceeds realized at the thanksgiving service.
“Beneficiaries of the proceeds included Abakaliki and Afikpo Prisons; Abakaliki Motherless Babies Home; Leprosy Colonies in Ngbo and Ikwo; School of Blind in Izzi Local Government Area; and International Model School of Deaf and Dumb, Afikpo.
“The commodities, including over 10,000 tubers of yams, bags of rice and other grains, garri, livestock, toiletries and other domestic necessities too numerous to be numbered were offered by the State Executive Council, House of Assembly, Judiciary, Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government as well as individuals during the Special Thanksgiving church service held at the Government House Chapel, Abakaliki on Sunday” She reports.
Earlier in a sermon, the Chaplain, Government House Chapel and Senior Pastor of Christ Embassy Church, Eunice Oyeyemi, said the thanksgiving is a component of Christian worship which every Christian should imbibe.
She said, thanksgiving accelerates success, attracts divine visitation and causes God to multiply His blessings and opportunities on an individual, Government or institution, while acting as a weapon to put the devil in disarray.
Mrs Enuice added that the spirit of gratitude always exhibited by Governor Umahi was responsible for all the benefits enjoyed in the State.
