In a powerful show of solidarity with Nigeria’s frontline defenders, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Mallam Umar Dikko Radda, has applauded the Nigerian Army for its relentless and courageous efforts in tackling the state’s complex security challenges.

Governor Radda made the commendation on Wednesday, 8 October 2025, during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja and made available to newsmen in a press statement by Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele
Acting Director, Army Public Relations.

The Governor lauded the dedication, discipline, and gallantry of Nigerian Army personnel battling banditry and other violent crimes across the state.

He credited their selfless sacrifice and dogged determination for the remarkable progress made in restoring safety and confidence in affected communities.

Governor Radda expressed gratitude to the COAS for his consistent support to troops stationed in Katsina and for his morale-boosting visit to the state earlier this year an engagement he said “rekindled the fighting spirit” of soldiers in every operational sphere.

He revealed that the Katsina State Government is partnering with the Nigerian Army to establish an additional Army unit in the state, a strategic move aimed at fortifying security operations and ensuring lasting peace.

Radda also highlighted the seamless collaboration between the Katsina Watch Corps and the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, describing it as “a model of synergy” that must be replicated nationwide to defeat insurgents and other criminal elements.

In his response, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, commended Governor Radda for his unwavering support to the military, particularly for the cooperation and encouragement extended to troops operating in the state.

He assured the Governor that under his leadership, the Nigerian Army remains fully committed to defending law-abiding citizens, protecting communities, and creating secure conditions for economic growth across the country.

General Oluyede reaffirmed that the Army will continue to make every necessary sacrifice to secure Katsina and other parts of the nation, urging the people to sustain their trust and collaboration with the military.

The visit marks a renewed pact between the Katsina State Government and the Nigerian Army, signaling a joint determination to stamp out insecurity, rebuild community trust, and accelerate the return of peace and prosperity to one of Nigeria’s most strategic northern states.
