The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Gombe has unleashed a grassroots voter education blitz in the State, enlisting National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members under its INEC Ambassadors scheme to take sensitization to the streets, markets, and worship centres.
At the flag-off of the campaign for Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) on Thursday, September 18, 2025, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Sa’ad Umar Idris hailed the corps members for what he described as a “bold statement of service to democracy.”
“The selfless service you render to communities in Gombe State is proof that an enlightened electorate is the foundation of a better Nigeria. Keep up the good work,” Idris declared.
According to him, the campaign will run across all 11 local government areas with roadshows, market rallies, church and mosque sensitization, and radio programmes aimed at mobilizing new voters and educating the public on their rights.
Immediately after the launch, INEC staff and Ambassadors hit major streets in Gombe metropolis, distributing flyers and engaging residents face-to-face to drum up participation in the CVR exercise.
With this bold move, REC Idris is betting on youth power to spark voter enthusiasm and strengthen Nigeria’s democratic foundations ahead of future elections.
