The Emir of Zazzau, Dr. Shehu Idris, on Tuesday was denied access to the venue of the commissioning ceremony of the multi-billion naira Olam Poultry and Feed Mill in Kaduna.
The US$150m investment, expected to produce 1.2m day-old chicks weekly, and create 3,000 jobs for artisans and veterinary doctors, comprises of grain silos with a combined capacity of 50,000 metric tones, a world class state-of-the-art hatchery and feed mill.
“Witnesses said that the emir arrived at the venue of the event in the morning, shortly after the arrival of the state governor, Nasir el-Rufai. Even though the special guest of honour, President Muhammadu Buhari, was yet to arrive, and the event was yet to start properly, but the emir and his entourage were blocked by the security agents on “orders from the above.”
“Witnesses said the emir was kept waiting for 30 minutes before offering to allow him enter alone (without his aides); but the infuriated looking emir, however, rejected the offer and left the venue.
“While they turned back the Emir of Zazzau, Emirs of Kano and Marwa came much later but were allowed into venue with their entourage,” said a witness.
However, the Zazzau emirate council on behalf of His Highness Alhaji (Dr) Shehu Idris debunked the rumors regarding the incidence that occurred at the commissioning of the Olam Hatchery and Feed Mill at Kaduna yesterday 12th September, 2017 according to the Assistant Secretary, Zazzau Emirate Council Dan Isan Zazzau.
Her stated that although it was reported that the Emir of Zazzau Alhaji (Dr) Shehu Idris was denied access in to the venue or rather was delayed before he was finally granted access, either way we wish to draw the attention of the public that His Highness was well aware of protocols and conduction of due process in occasions like this.
“The incidence was exaggerated by people whose intentions were to destabilize the good relationship between the Emirate and Governor El-Rufai’s administration due to certain reasons best known to them. The report on the incidence was purposely made with the intent to publicly demean His Highness.
He therefore called on public particularly the youth to put to shame whoever is responsible of reporting the incidence as a form of embarrassment to him or the emirate by ignoring such reports”.
Dan Isan Zazzau further added that this great investment was a part of the campaign promise made by Governor EL-Rufai’s administration towards creating employment to our youth and therefore urged the youth to see it as a step towards the right direction.
