Bye election: citizens voting in Ebonyi

Voting is ongoing smoothly in polling units across the 5 council areas in Ebonyi South East Nigeria for the election of the senator to represent Ebonyi South zone in the national assembly.

At Onufuturu polling unit in Umunaga, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State voters were seen casting their votes while some were seen tracing their names for accreditation.

A voter Chinonso Agwu, , who was happy to have casted his vote hitch free, said that some persons had already voted and gone.

“Yes the crowd is much. Some people have voted and left. INEC and their materials arrived here by 8am.

Supervisory Presiding Officer for Onufuturu Ward, Adedeoye Adeleye, described the election as peaceful and said the Biomodal voter accreditation system (BVAS) was working.

“As early as seven o’clock we have arrived for the election and is going on smoothly” she said.

There’s also tight security across the zone as correspondent observed heavy presence of the military men.
