An aspirant for House of Representative, Alhaji Shettima Abbas Yerima has promised not be like Abuja based lawmakers who sit and do nothing, if elected 2019 in general election.
Alhaji Yerima, who is also the President of the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum made the promised in an interview with newsmen shortly after submitting his intent nomination form under the People’s Democratic Party-PDP in Kaduna.
He said as House of Representative, he will also not sneak in and sneak out on his constituency but be close to his people, maintaining that he would always present to the National Assembly the interest of the people.
Alhaji Yerima was of the opinion that the level of poverty in the country is getting worse day-by-day since 2015 till date that All Progressive Congress (APC) took over power.
The aspirant stressed that it is no longer story that if APC cannot perform after 3 years in government, it cannot perform again, pointing out that for him, he is not looking at issue of power as do-or-die affair but it appears that APC led Government has nothing to offer the country.
Alhaji Yerima however called on patriotic Nigerians to begin to come on board to ensure that they work for the betterment of the country, to ensure that democracy is sustained.
Speaking on the issue of Not Too Young to Run law, the President of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum said it is unfortunate that politics has been monetized in the sense that a lot of young people would have wish to run for a political office but some of them have been disfranchised and cannot afford to buy a nomination form to contest.
He thanked PDP for making nominations forms affordable and encouraging to obtain, noting that with time, political parties will have to rethink of ways to encourage younger people to participate in politics.
